I dreamt about a place similar to the backrooms in the sense that it seemed to be a parallel worls where people can just get trapped. But it was not that minimalistic or liminal. It was colorful and bright, with furniture. The colours almost reminded me a beautiful kid's room or the stairs room in squid game. You could exit only if you found a pc screen and passed through it. But this world was filled with extremely violent monsters. Many people seemed to be trapped in there and this place and it's creatures would harm them and torture them in extremely painful ways. It was almost comedic in a dark comedy way because it was extremely over the top torture. Like at one point i was seeing through the perspective of someone there. A monster attacked me scratched me with huge tallons, lit me on fire and them some drone like human faced white things came and started a ton of attacks like "stab testicles", "pull entrails", "loved one's death" (which i suppose meant that they supposedly instantly cause you the mental pain this would cause) and many more i don't remember, till thw person was disfigured and i saw many other "disfigured" people, like their heads were turned into hills, screaming constantly and many more chaotic ones i don't remember. At one point i saw many people during the day trying to fight a kind of lizard man monster. I was supposedly hiding under some pillows in a room as the guy i mentioned earlier that got harmed later. The lizard man appeared and many people were declaring they'd fight him now during daytime because in noght ue becomes unstoppable. So many people were running in the room or put of it, the lizard man was running in and out too and everyone was getting killed by the lizard man. It was also very chaotic. Can't really describe it very well. Then night came, the lizard man's eyes turnwd red and started killing even more and moving fast while till now he seemed like he kind of creeped around. That's when he attacked me and the tortures i mentioned earlier happened. Then i saw the lizard man go to a kind of quick sand circle in the night sky. There were some little creatures looking kinda like pikmin. They were observing this whole world. The lizard man arrived and talked a bit. The creatures seemed to view him as kind of a boss but they were also kinda afraid of him. The lizard man made fun of the people who think they can defeat him at day, talked about the ones he killed (although from the things i described earlier it seems you don't get killed but rather extremely tortured, then malformed like in "all tomorrows" and remain in constant torture), then the lizard man layed between two of the creatures, that were sitting on a circle and fell asleep. Then the creatures started singing a song about how the lizard man. Kinda like a chorus doing some exposition. About how the lizardman fights all day and night then sleeps the whole day and night following. How at night he becomes more powerful and monstrous. And about how a hero should defeat him. Then i was waken up, so that's it. I should note that everyone looked like they're from a cartoon. Kinda reminding me "Rick and morty" or some kind of adult swim animated show. The monsters only were kind of leaning in the scary look but they were still cartoon looking. The lizard man was probably the big bad of this world, the other monsters being his inferiors.
Your dream presents a tapestry of surreal elements and dark humor, blending a cartoon-like aesthetic with a nightmarishly violent narrative. Here's a detailed interpretation of the symbols and themes present in your dream:
Parallel World Setting: This element might be an exploration of alternate realities or parallel states of mind. The fact that it is not minimalistic or liminal, but rather colorful and vibrant, suggests a divergence from feeling trapped in monotony to feeling overwhelmed by overstimulation or chaotic creativity.
Colorful Environment: The bright, kid-like colors combined with furniture and the resemblance to the stairs room in "Squid Game" may point to nostalgia or references to childhood innocence, juxtaposed with the violent and chaotic scenarios. It may symbolize how something that appears harmless or simple can conceal complexity and danger.
Computer Screen as an Exit: The need to find and pass through a computer screen to escape symbolizes a search for solutions or escapes through technology or virtual realities. It can symbolize a reliance on digital means to solve problems or escape difficult situations in life.
Violent Monsters: Monsters in dreams often personify fears, anxieties, or aspects of yourself or society you find threatening. These creatures, although they look cartoonish, possess a menacing nature, embodying irrational fears or exaggerated feelings of being overwhelmed or threatened by certain situations in your life.
Dark Comedy and Extreme Torture: The over-the-top violence and dark humor create a reflection of possibly feeling detached from real-life situations. It could be your psyche's way of processing real-world chaos or absurdity with a defense mechanism of humor or exaggeration.
Lizard Man and Transformation: The lizard man might symbolize a powerful, perhaps negative force or authority in your life. The transformation at night suggests duality, representing how certain challenges can appear manageable during the day but become overwhelming or terrifying at night.
Constant Torture and Malformation: This aspect might symbolize endurance through prolonged discomfort or feelings of being trapped in an adverse situation. Dreams like this often arise from stress or the pressure of trying to break free from cycles of pain or negativity.
The Pikmin-like Observers: These observers can symbolize parts of yourself or societal views that are detached or observing life's happenings without involvement. Their fear of the lizard man emphasizes the idea of hostile control or oppression in certain aspects of life or society.
Hero's Role in the Exposition: The song suggesting that a hero should defeat the lizard man could imply an underlying hope or desire for change, empowerment, or salvation from the current overwhelming forces in your life.
Cartoonish Style: The cartoon-like aesthetic, reminiscent of "Rick and Morty" or Adult Swim shows, underscores a sense of surrealism and detachment. It may reveal an affinity for looking at life's absurdities through a satirical lens, allowing you a buffer from the heaviness of reality.
Overall, your dream seems like a narrative quilt of various stressors, both from within and the external environment, processed through wildly creative and vivid imagery. It touches upon the dualities of innocence versus experience, order versus chaos, and humor as a coping mechanism for life’s darker facets.
